Before you dismiss the idea of visiting Eastern Europe completely, you should first know what you’re missing. Many travellers to Europe tend to skip over this region altogether, but little do they know how much Eastern Europe actually has to offer. Sure, it might not be as cosmopolitan as other parts of Europe, but that’s all the reason to go there. Do a tour in one (or all) of these countries to make sure you don’t miss Eastern Europe.

Bosnia and Herzegovina

While Bosnia’s past might be a bit complicated, you won’t necessarily see that side when you come here, unless of course you want to. Bosnia and Herzegovina is a beautiful land, lying on the Adriatic Sea. Because of it’s gorgeous scenery, it’s a wonderful place to do some outdoor activities. Tour Bosnia-Herzegovina to hike Vlasic mountain, do some fly-fishing, or swim in a gorgeous waterfall. Visit the capital, Sarajevo, where you’ll be pleasantly surprised by its western European flavour.

Romania

If you really want to see the countryside of Eastern Europe, look no further than Romania. Gorgeous landscapes and rich cultural villages make up this place, with sprinkles of modern Europe lined here and there. Bucharest is an amazing city, with stunning architecture, quaint cafes, and the famous Parliament Palace to get some food for your camera. Visit Transylvania and be blown away. Maybe even act in your own Dracula movie!

Hungary

Hungary is a place for superlatives. Budapest has been voted one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and Hungary has one of the largest lakes in Europe; Batalon, as well as the largest of a lot of other things, like synagogues and medicinal baths. This country has been gaining more and more tourists every year, due to its cute villages, remarkable history, delicious cuisine, and plentiful thermal baths spread throughout. Travel Hungary to see all this place has to offer.

Poland

What is there not to see in Poland? Though the country was ravished by WWII, its culture is slowly breaking through again, and you can see it all in places like Krakow; a fun and exciting city with a vibrant history you can witness all on a walking tour. Brace yourself to visit concentration camps from the Holocaust, or visit the traditional countryside of Poland. When you’re finished, it’s easy to get around to other countries, including those in Scandinavia. If you’re on a budget, cheap holidays to Poland do exist! The convenience of Eastern European transportation is revealed here.

Czech Republic

Nowadays, Czech Republic probably has more in common with its western European counterparts than its eastern neighbours. Prague, the capital, has recently become a huge hit for travellers to Europe and it’s easy to see why. With cobblestone streets, amazing architecture, and of course great beer, you’ll have a good time here. Check out the Lennon Wall, and make time to visit Olomouc, too.

Estonia

A little more north on the Baltic Sea, lies none other than the spectacular Estonia. Sure, you’ve heard of this place, but do you know what’s here? Think; beautiful beaches, fascinating Soviet architecture, and a unique blend of all the cultures from countries that once ruled this place. Estonians love nature, and it’s no surprise why. With amazing national parks, bogs, and waterfalls, you’ll fall in love instantly. Spend some time in Tallinn’s Old Town, drink some famous alcohol, and spend a night or two in one of the fastest growing hotel industries in the world.
