Over the last few years, some horrific events have taken place throughout major cities in Europe, and it has gotten the world scared. Some of the most popular tour destinations, like Las Ramblas in Barcelona, have become centers for terrorist attacks. If you’re worried about your upcoming tour in Europe and you’re feeling a little nervous, we don’t blame you. It’s only normal after such events take place, and seem to be happening over and over again.

But, here’s why despite it all, you’re going to be okay. And, tips on making sure you stay extra safe:

Anything Can Happen Anywhere, Anytime

Unfortunately, in a lot of the attacks we’ve seen, there’s not really a pattern or any way to predict it happening. Those who were victims were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time, and quite frankly, there’s no way of knowing that. But, if you really think about it, dangerous things can happen right down the street from your house, and they aren’t any more or any less likely to happen while you’re traveling.

The Media Sensationalizes Things

What really makes you scared?  Is it because of what you saw or read in the news? Although you might be getting the right story, a lot of the terrible things that we see every day are too much for the average person to take in. We become numb to what we see after a while, and then when something happens that hits close to home, it becomes a real fear. If you’re feeling really worried about your upcoming trip to Europe, one piece of advice is to just turn off the TV!

Avoid Crowds

Generally, areas with lots of people can be a target for people who want to do bad things. Does this mean you shouldn’t go to that concert you love or explore that site you’ve been dreaming of seeing? Of course, not! But, if you really want to play it safe, try to stay away from areas with massive crowds, and if you do visit, make sure you’re aware of your surroundings.

Stay Alert

That old saying, “If you see something, say something” really applies anywhere in the world. While traveling, you may see a lot of things that may seem suspicious or off to you, and sometimes, that’s just the culture of the place you’re in. But, if you feel that something is wrong, always, always trust your gut, and don’t be afraid to speak to the authorities if something just doesn’t seem right to you.

And, finally…

Let Loose and Enjoy!

The likelihood of anything happening to you while you’re on tour is very, very small. Though your concerns are absolutely validated, there are ways to curb your concerns. And, going on a tour is one of them. If you tour Europe, you’ll be in a group in a tour company that wants to prioritize your safety above everything else. You’ll also be with other people, so you don’t need to feel alone. Other than that, feel free to let go and enjoy your trip! After all, you only live once!
