If you’ve travelled a lot, then you know there’s all different kinds of travellers out there. Like you, they’ve each fallen in love with the world, and their passion is undeniable. Despite how similar we all are, each traveler in unique, and can usually fall into one of these categories of the people you meet while travelling:

1.) The Solo Female Traveller

This is the girl who just screams independence. She’s travelled far and wide all by herself with just her backpack, and she’s the epitome of female empowerment. She doesn’t need a man to make her happy, or to save her from a scary situation she may encounter. She loves being able to go where she wants, when she wants, and she’s as down to earth as the ground she walks on.

2.) The Power Couple

This is the couple that looks so good together while travelling, they may as well be an advertisement. You wonder how they could possibly spend so much time together and still look genuinely happy to be with one another. Though they like their privacy, they will invite you to tag along with them the next time they go somewhere, and you’ll suddenly forget that they were even a couple. They’re the perfect travelling buds.

3.) The Travel Blogger

This is the person you see at the cafe typing away, or the person you see taking a million photos to share on their Instagram. Though, they want to make it very clear that they enjoy experiencing the country they’re in, but they also have a “deadline to meet”. A wi-fi connection is mandatory wherever they go, even if it’s in the middle of nowhere. They’ve found a way to balance work and life, and they’re killin’ it.

4.) The ‘Tour Guide’

This person knows absolutely everything about everything. Honestly, they’re a walking WIkipedia page. They’re the ones who have completely disregarded the fact that there’s already a tour guide. They throw in random facts at the most inappropriate times, and after a while, you start to wonder if they’re just making it all up. You might hate them, but you have to admit; they’re pretty interesting.

5.) The One That Doesn’t Blend In

Seriously, a fanny pack? A cliche passport holder? Traveler’s checks?! This person sticks out like a sore thumb. You cringe, watching them whip out their map in public. They follow strict itineraries, and you’re so glad to not be them. But, you still approach them trying to help, while also trying to pull the (selfie) stick out of their butts.

6.) The College Graduate

This person has just handed in their thesis, and they’ve been waiting for this moment since freshman year. All those late (drunk) nights, talking about their backpacking trip ‘the summer after graduation’, has finally become a reality, and they’re having the time of their lives. Okay, so they might be having a little too much fun, but hey, they aren’t quite in the ‘real world’ yet, anyway.

7.) The Wanderer

This person has been on the road for months, and admit it, you’re jealous. They seemingly have ‘no direction’ in life, but they do know the direction to that Buddhist shrine, and you follow them to hear their awesome travelling stories. While you might be returning home sooner or later, this person plans to just keep on travelling. They’re awesome, and you want to be them.

The food, culture, sights, the locals…are all great aspects of traveling. However, sometimes it’s the people you meet along the way that make the whole trip truly inspiring.
