There’s a lot to see in the Land Down Under, but the only way to see it all is on a road trip through Australia. Imagine what it would be like to see all those amazing sights you’ve been hoping to see, without having to catch a plane between each one. Before you hop in the car and start heading on your way, consider taking these routes to guide you on the most epic road trip through Australia:
1.) The Great Ocean Road
The Great Ocean Road is one of the best road trips in the entire world. Before you take any other route in this country, make sure this one is at the top of your list. Many people head to The Great Ocean Road to get a few good pics for their camera, but if you actually take the time to appreciate the extent of this long road, it will take a few days. Take a look at the 12 Apostles, the amazing ridges and gorgeous coastlines, all from the seat of your car.
2.) Cape Tribulation to Cairns
This road trip will give you a chance to drive by some breathtaking scenery that only Queensland has to offer. Like The Great Ocean Road, this road trip goes along the east coast of Australia, passing by destinations like the Daintree Rainforest and alongside the Great Barrier Reef. Along the way, make sure you explore the sights by making a pit stop in places like Port Douglas.
3.) Broome to Perth
Western Australia is a magnificent place to visit, and the only way to see it all is by taking a road trip through it. This trip definitely takes longer than the others at nearly 4,000 km, but it’ll all be worth it. Broome and Perth alone have so much to see, so you can hang out in those areas before heading off or when you end your trip, depending on where you start. During your trip, make sure to ride some camels Cable Beach, or spend some time in The Pinnacles Desert.
4.) Launceston to Hobart
You’ll first have to get over to Tasmania for this car ride, but don’t let that deter you from adding a road trip of this island into your itinerary. It starts in the center, heading out east to the coast, and then south. This route will take you through the Bay of Fires, Freycinet National Park, and Port Arthur, among other dreamy places. Tasmania has some of the most beautiful sights in the world, and you wouldn’t want to miss an inch of it!
5.) Sydney to Brisbane
There’s no doubt a lot to see in Sydney, and it’s easy to spend days there just traveling about. However, those who choose to venture a bit out of the city on a road trip will be mesmerized but what’s right around the corner. This road trip is almost as epic as The Great Ocean Road, known as the Legendary Pacific Coast. It’s one of the most popular places to do a road trip in Australia, and for a very good reason. You’ll get to stop at beaches, wineries, and little towns, until you finally reach the Gold Coast and the awesome city of Brisbane.
