Upon planning your next getaway it may be reassuring to learn a valuable life lesson behind the reason why one embarks toward an unknown land.

Oftentimes the emotional response factor in leaving the place of origin and treading along an unfamiliar path can be what is required for one trying to get to know themselves a bit better. The introductory of a new sensory experience usually comes from the beckoning of the subconscious mind. Perhaps this invitation has been on hiatus for too long and the yearning for discovery is clasping for your attention? The proverbial saying ‘Don’t Worry, Be Happy’ by Avatar Meher Baba is literally that – an exchange or a change of scenery to enter into what we perceive happiness to be and where to find it.

Because each cultural and social arena is different from the next at times we find that we are immersed in a kind of refreshing and awakening treatment. What is it with the unfamiliar territory that heightens our beings and pulls us to wayfare into the land of the unseen? Perhaps the rush of travellers and wanderlust afar is actually the chasing of the ideals invoked by the associations they’ve heard about that place. The descriptive stories foretold are of course nowhere near in comparison to the physicality of the moment and dipping your toes into that cool pool of water. The new dawn of exploration and going beyond our daily norms can be a sort of ritualistic encounter.

Whether one travels regularly or not it might be interesting to test whether it is possible to mimic that same ‘holiday’ feeling anywhere and at any time. It is beyond our current situation and we are innate beings literally trying to ‘move on’. As an outsider, our views of this new destination differs very much from the locals whom are settled and have become quite familiar with this place they call home. Despite this knowledge, the gesture you are welcomed within treading a new place is seldom like the one you’d find in your homeland. It is as though you’ve been unacquainted for some time but have been readily accepted to venture through a new aura. Being openly conscious of the new ways of living in a place packed with people of another descent really instills curiosity in the traveller.

A focal point to raise after your travels is: Did this experience live up to my expectations? Has anything transformational occurred within my being that has made the trip worthwhile?
